Guardian Opportunity

We believe that puppies or dogs are happiest when placed in an environment where they can be with their family when they are not working (breeding or whelping puppies).

Guardians make this possible by giving a puppy a loving home environment that will be their forever home from the time they are puppies. We feel this is beneficial to dogs that we plan to use in our breeding program.

A Guardian Family is a local family (within 60 minutes) of our home. You get our “pick of the litter puppy” for a $3500.00 deposit that is 50% refunded once the breeding contract is satisfied ($1750.00) + Maryland State sales tax, for either male or female.

Guardian Families are an important part of our program. We will get to know each other very well if we do not already! We believe you will find it very exciting to be part of producing top quality, healthy pups that will bring joy to so many families.

The Guardian Home puppy is part of the Guardian Home’s Family forever, while the breeding rights belong solely to Rocks & Roses Doodles for up to 7 years old. Females will have up to 4 litters between the age of 12 months and 6 years old, whichever comes first. Males are used for siring puppies solely for Rocks & Roses Doodles between the age of 7 months and 6 years old. All testing will be completed before breeding. An extended contract may be arranged for a male to sire additional litters with a $500.00 fee given to the guardian family for subsequent successful litters.

When breeding contract (original or extended) is complete, the Guardian Dog will be spayed or neutered at the expense of R&RD. Then your dog will remain a forever pet of their Guardian Family! If you choose to withdraw at any time, you will have the choice of returning the dog to Rocks & Roses Doodles and forfeiting any refunds OR  paying a balance of no more than $14,000.00 for lost revenues. At this time, R&RD will have the dog spayed or neutered at our expense.

Any necessary Litigation will be held in Harford County, MD at the expense of the Guardian family.

$3500.00 payment required plus MD sales tax – 50% ($1750.00) refunded at completion of service contract after spay/neuter (paid by R&RD).

Besides the initial payment of $3500.00 (50% refundable with a completed contract) + Maryland State sales tax, our Guardian Families are responsible for the general routine care, veterinary and wellness of the Guardian puppy/dog placed with them. This means annual vaccines, feeding PawTree quality dog food available at PawTree.com/RRD, grooming, monthly heartworm prevention, (Revolution must be used during heat cycle & while carrying/ nursing puppies) flea/tick prevention, regular exercise, professional obedience training and socialization, and all of the TLC you and your family have to offer.

As an added benefit to our Guardian Family, R&RD will provide a health insurance policy ($250.00 deductible at Guardian expense unless related to breeding) during the “working” years to help with medical expenses for any unforeseen illness or injury not related to breeding. When and if Rocks & Roses Doodles decides the dog will no longer be used for breeding, R&RD will spay or neuter the dog and it will be returned to the Guardian Family as their pet to live the rest of his/her years. At this time, 50% of the original payment will be refunded and the Guardian Family can decide to continue with the health insurance at their own expense or allow it to lapse/be cancelled. All Guardian Dog Vet records must be available to R&RD at all times.

A Guardian Family gets our “pick of the litter”! This means that we choose our breeding girls/boys based on the best qualities that are outlined in our breed standard with temperament of course coming first. Another wonderful benefit to our Guardian Families is that their Guardian dog or puppy will be completely health tested by 25 months of age (some tests may be done before you pick them up around 8 weeks of age and other tests may not even qualify until the dog is 24 months old), at the expense of Rocks & Roses Doodles, prior to entering our breeding program. There is no cost to the Guardian Family. Our Guardian Families get to enjoy the excitement of being part of our breeding program and seeing the offspring of their very own Guardian dog placed with families across the country bringing others the same joy and happiness that they have received from their Guardian Dog!

To be considered as a Guardian Home for one of our breeding dogs, you must live within 60 minutes of our home in Street, MD. It is necessary that you have physical fencing (not electric) to provide a safe and secure environment for the Guardian dog/puppy (away from “intact” dogs of the opposite sex). You must own your own home and have a schedule that will allow for your dog to not be left alone for extended periods of time. All dogs and pups placed in Guardian Families must be indoor dogs, and NEVER be left outside unattended. Guardian Families must have reliable transportation and are required to bring the Guardian dog/pup to us when needed throughout the year.

Guardian families must KEEP in touch with R&RD during the development of their dog. We require regular updates and pictures of your Guardian Dog. We also require for your Guardian to come and visit at least 3 times the first 2 years for me to evaluate them and help familiarize them with our home and family for breeding purposes. We will require visits continually through their service years.

Females will start breeding during their 1st heat season after they complete all health certifications, anytime after 1 year old. All R&RD pups must complete hip certifications which can be completed between 4 months (Penn Hip) or OFA at 24 months. RR&D will decide the appropriate hip test.

If you are receiving a Guardian Home Puppy. We may require a visit to our Guardian Family’s home every few months during the first year to assess the Guardian Puppy, as well as build a relationship with her/him for the future. Occasionally, we will ask our Guardian Families to bring the puppy to us for a visit. This is particularly important for a female so that she can get comfortable with our home for when she will be here with us in the future delivering puppies.

Each time a Guardian Female is in season, the Guardian Family is required to contact us immediately. An intact female usually has a heat cycle that will last between 14 and 21 days. During this time, we will need access to her for breeding related appointments including, but not limited to, Progesterone level testing. Once she has been bred, she will remain with her Guardian Family until one week before her due date. (We will take her for Vet check-ups). At that time, a Female Guardian dog will come back to stay with us through the rest of her pregnancy, whelping and nursing. She will be returned once her pups are fully weaned approximately 4-5 weeks later. Guardian Families are welcome and encouraged to visit with scheduled appts while their Guardian Dog is here at Rocks & Roses Doodles in Street, MD.

Any necessary Litigation will be held in Harford County, MD at the expense of the Guardian family.

Each dog is individually assessed before determining their required litters. Most of our Female Guardian dogs will have between 3-4 litters for us (this depends whether you have an adult that has already had litters or getting a puppy just entering our breeding program). Female Guardian Puppies placed in a Guardian home will have up to (and no more than) a total of 4 litters. The health of our breeding dogs is a priority to us, and prior to any breeding, Rocks & Roses Doodles will receive clearance by our Veterinarians. Occasionally we may decide to have fewer litters if we have accomplished our goals in development of our Guardian dog in a shorter period of time. Again, this is determined by R&RD only.

A male will begin his breeding career somewhere between 7 months and two years and “work” up to 5 years from 1st service, but no longer than 7 years old, with a minimum requirement of producing 7 live litters. He must always live within 60 minutes of Street, MD. If at any time, he will no longer live within 60 minutes, R&RD may choose to spay/neuter which would void this contract, making the full payment non-refundable.

Any necessary Litigation will be held in Harford County, MD at the expense of the Guardian family.
